Overview
Quizizz is an online website that provides free, self-paced quizzes to review, assess, and engage both in class and at home.
History
Quizizz was founded by Ankit Gupta and Deepak Joy Cheenath in 2015 while they were teaching remedial math at a school in India. Quizizz now has offices in both Bangalore, India and Santa Monica, California. Today, Quizizz is used by more than 10 million teachers, students, and parents and 1 in 2 schools uses the interactive website. Half a billion questions are answered per month through Quizizz.
In a statement, Ankit said, “Our mission is to motivate every learner. When we hear that a student initially struggled on a math assignment but then replayed it six or seven times because he/she wanted to improve, we know we’re on the right track.”
Features
- Thousands of public quizzes - Teachers and parents have access to quizzes that have already been created, reducing the amount of time needed to create new content or assessments.
- Reports - Teachers and parents have access to detailed class-level and student-level reports for every quiz that is conducted. Reports can be downloaded as an Excel spreadsheet. Students are also able to review their quiz scores at the end of the quiz for immediate feedback.
- Quiz Creator - Teachers and parents are able to create their own quizzes and capture questions from pre-existing quizzes to add to their own quiz. The quiz creator can add personalized memes for added motivation. Questions and answers are able to be randomized to reduce cheating.
- Accessibility - Students are able to access quizzes from multiple devices including desktops, laptops, smartphones, and tablets.
- Self-paced - Students are able to complete quizzes on their own time, at their own pace.
