Overview

[[Plickers]] is a simple tool for teachers to assess their students in the classroom without any student devices. It can be tailored to how a teacher may want to view the assessment. According to the company, "Policies, textbooks, and technology may change, but teachers are the one constant in student learning. We want to empower teachers everywhere with the tools and data they need to teach better and smarter." Students are given a chance to participate and engaged in learning without feeling self-conscious.

Each student is given a square Plicker card with a unique pattern, with A, B, C, and D on each side of the card. All the teacher needs is a smartphone or iPad or tablet in order to properly use Plickers. When the teacher asks the question, the students will rotate their cards with their choice of A, B, C, or D. Once all students have chosen their answer the teacher will use their device to quickly scan the students' answers, and will receive immediate feedback on student's responses. These responses can either be anonymously recorded and projected on the screen, or kept private on the teacher's device.
