NWEA MAP is an assessment that measures the progress and growth of each student. NWEA stands for Northwest Evaluation Association. MAP stands for Measures of Academic Progress. It is unique in that if the student answers a question correctly, a harder question is asked. If the student answers the question incorrectly, an easier question is asked. The NWEA MAP is a test taken via computer by students as early as Kindergarten and as late as 12th grade. The test is untimed. In many schools, tests are given at the beginning, middle, and end of the school year (Fall, Winter, and Spring tests). In others, tests are given at the beginning and end of the school year only (Fall and Spring tests).
