Overview

Wizard School allow kids and students to watch videos, take pictures, create, share, and have conversations with family and friends. There are multistep challenges and organized themes such as Music, Science, and more. Each challenge gives background information, prompts, and a general framework to help students get started. Players earn coins that allow them to "buy" stickers and new drawing tools to use within the app. The content is developed by educators, who have taught elementary and middle school. Many of the educators specialized in content areas such as science, writing, math, geography, music, sports, and design. These teachers created and reviewed all content displayed in the app (over 3000 videos, maps, images) for all grades and ages.

Educational Value

The app is creative, safe, and stimulating. There is a multitude of creative challenges that take learning to a new level. There are plenty of opportunities for students to add their own voice to images, animals, and more. The emphasis on "buying" things teaches students value in money, saving, and overall budget.

Ease of Play

Overall the app is easy to navigate. The directions are pretty straight forward. Kids are able to set up their own profiles and then they are free to explore on their own.

What Parents Need to Know

Parents have total control on Wizard School. There are Family Accounts that can be created under the parent's email address, so that parents can monitor everything their child is doing. The Wizard School has a trained staff that verify that the adult has given permission to a child over the age of 13 to create an account. They do this by asking the parent to send a video of themselves giving permission to the child. Therefore, once this is done, the adult and the child can enable sharing features. Parents are notified immediately via email when their child friends someone they know on the app. Furthermore, the parent has the ability to delete any friendships or messages.
