Overview

The application in question is called Prodigy. Prodigy is an online education math game. There are separate pages for both student, parent, and teacher. The teacher's page (dashboard) shows student progress, different classes (can be by grade or by section), weekly skills and progress, and weekly student leaderboards (which student is getting the highest percentage of correct answers). As for students, they are directed to a login page. The teacher will provide the login information (generated by Prodigy), and students can play from home or school. Students will experience a first-player storyline, playing as wizards, attempting to retrieve Warden Keys from different lands. In order to cast spells, students will need to correctly answer a math problem, pertaining to various skills such as "Fractions: Compare and Contrast." Students will level up their avatars as they collect stars from duels, and will be able to upgrade to membership status is parents wish.

This application is not only educational, but extremely entertaining. Students have limited interactions with other players in the game, thus reducing bullying or foul language, and will be focused on completing their quests. Students are unable to play without answering math problems, and will experience various answer and question formats. Students will always be able to click the question mark symbol in order to get a reminder of what to do and how to do it, but they will not be given hints to which is the correct answer. Teachers and parents can rest easy while students are playing Prodigy.
