Overview
Powtoon is a presentation tool used for creating animated movies or slideshows to present information. Presentations can either be viewed on Powtoon, or you can export or share them to YouTube, Facebook, or other social media sites. There are preloaded templates to work off of or you can create your own. The presentation allows for music to be playing- either your own or the songs available through the website. Voiceovers can also be recorded or uploaded and added to the presentation. Text can be easily added and edited. Any characters or pictures can also be swapped out. Your own media or pictures can be added, and you can share links on your slides, as well.
This tool is unfortunately not free, but there are versions for educators that start at $8 per month. These include individual accounts for students, so they can make their own videos and submit them to you for an assignment. This tool is a fun way to engage students by taking a break during the lesson to watch a cartoon that you create and control.
