Overview

NoRedInk is an excellent way for students to enhance their writing skills in a fun way. The program was developed by Jeff Scheur, a high school English teacher, to help students improve their writing skills in grades 4-12. Much like the math programs we see in classrooms today, such as Dreambox and Aleks, NoRedInk formulates questions and lessons based on a student’s personal needs and levels. The student moves at their own pace and the program provides tutorials for the student when needed. NoRedInk also tracks the student’s progress for the benefit of the student, teacher, and school. The teacher and school can see where students align with standards and focus teaching efforts based on results. The program not only enhances a student's writing skills, it does it in an exciting way. When a student begins using NoRedInk, the system will ask them a series of questions regarding their interests. The lessons that the student will be working on subsequently, will incorporate their interests and even the names of the student's friends and family. NoRedInk can offer students and teachers a way to supplement writing skills that are being learned and taught in the classroom.
