Overview

Google Docs is a word processing program within the Google suite of applications. Users can create, edit, and share documents with collaborators over the Google Cloud. Because of its online capabilities, Google Docs never requires the user to save the document. Instead, it is automatically saved to the user's Google Drive. Google Docs is a free application that anyone with a google email account can access.

Many schools have been increasing the use of Google Docs, especially in conjunction with Google Classroom Today, more than half the nation’s primary- and secondary-school students — more than 30 million children — use Google education apps like Gmail and Docs, the company said. And Chromebooks, Google-powered laptops that initially struggled to find a purpose, are now a powerhouse in America’s schools.
