Overview

Evernote

Evernote is an organizational app that combines note-taking with webclipping to keep all of the user's information in one place. Evernote's capabilities are especially useful for teachers for organizing class and student data as well as storing lesson ideas. Evernote is accessible through the internet, downloadable software, or a mobile app.
Evernote is extremely useful for compiling resources. Teachers can "clip" inspiration from the web or create notes to brainstorm ideas. The handwriting tool, which allows teachers to take notes by writing on their device's screen, allows both teachers and students to document important thoughts quickly.
Evernote is also a useful tool for collecting student data. Teachers can use Evernote's organization to create stacks, notebooks, or notes for either whole classes or specific students. One feature on the mobile app is the camera. The camera allows any piece of writing, whether it is a worksheet, handwritten note, or even writing on a whiteboard, to be captured automatically as a JPG file that is resized and enhanced for ease of reading. For students in RTI or with an IEP, this feature is useful for storing specific evidences of learning. The free version of Evernote allows for 60 MB of data uploads per month. The Plus version, at $2.92 per month, allows 1 GB, and the the Premium version, at $5.83 per month, allows 10 GB of uploads per month.
