Overview

Khan Academy is an academic website and app for learners, parents, and teachers. Khan Academy is a non-profit organization that provides lessons, quizzes, tests, and curriculum for grades kindergarten through high school. It includes subject areas in math, science and engineering, computing, arts and humanities, economics and finance, test prep, and college careers. Lessons often include tutorial videos and presentations and each lesson has a page for information as well as a section to ask questions. Khan Academy helps teachers find standards for lessons, implement individual practice problems, follow a curriculum, and track student progress. Teachers can locate the subject they want to teach and then use the lesson provided along with practice problems. Teachers can also connect Khan Academy to Google Classroom. Students can take a personalized quiz which gives immediate feedback. When the student answers a question incorrectly, a video or hint is available as to how to solve the problem. Through practice quizzes students can find areas of growth and determine what the student already knows. This helps develop a plan of practice problems to help the student pass the test at the end of each unit. Parents can give their students permission to be on Khan Academy, create their own account, and learn the same lessons as their child. Khan Academy also provides tutors and stories from other parents on Khan Academy. Overall Khan Academy supplies free curriculum to teachers, students, and parents. Students can create an individualized education plan and teachers can monitor the progress through Khan Academy.
