Overview

Khan Academy is a non-profit organization created by Sal Khan. Khan Academy has both a website and an app that offers free educational material for students. Khan Academy lessons are self-paced by the students creating a personalized education plan that empowers the students to learn. Through Khan Academy, teachers and parents can also access summaries of their students' performances.

Content

Khan Academy has content for grades kindergarten through high school. The courses offered cover topics including math, science, engineering, computing, arts and humanities, economics, and arts and humanities. There are also courses for life skills and test prep.

Each lesson primarily consists of instructional learning videos powered by YouTube. They also include written lessons, practice problems, quizzes, and sections to ask questions. Practice problems and quizzes give the students immediate feedback. After incorrect answers students are provided with hints or videos to help them solve the problem.

Teacher Involvement

Teachers can use Khan Academy to set up classrooms via Google Classroom. Using these classrooms teachers can assign lessons and practice problems for the subject of their choice. Teachers can track their students' progress as they complete the assigned material.
